Soooo corny. Sorry. The point is, that Blake Shelton is back on the Tweeting after quitting cold turkey for a few months. And as usual, he’s offending people right and left. This time, it was this: “Sooo….. Chely Wright just came out. Guess this opens the door… I Blake Shelton am a lesbian.” So, I ask you, what is the big deal???!!! Soon, the usual stream of angry people tweeted that he was rude and insensitive. On the other end of the spectrum, lots of people, including lesbians, tweeted to say that they thought Blake was funny, Miranda was hot, etc. Blake tweeted that he thinks Chely is hot. It all seems pretty harmless to me, but Blake does have a special knack for honking people off on Twitter.

Yep, Willie Nelson chopped his braids off! After, what, about 40 years? He says they were just too high maintenance, so now he’s sporting a cute bob.

Yep. It happened in Plainview, Texas, where a high school yearbook staff chose a Brad Paisley song, “Time Well Wasted,” as their yearbook theme. The idea, they say, is that you think you’re wasting time when you’re in school, but years later you realize it was time well spent. The teachers, however, did not agree AT ALL. They were furious, saying that “we work our tails off to give these students the best education…and at the end of the year all we have is a yearbook stating that it was a waste of time.” I guess they’re not super-open to the idea that it might not really be a total insult to them. Someone’s head had to roll, and in this case it was Nicole Jackson, the yearbook advisor. Wonder what Brad would think?

Sorry to be callous, but there’s just sooooo….much….drama…always. In this case, we had a news flash yesterday that Mindy was rushed to the hospital after an apparent overdose/possible suicide attempt. Mindy later released the news that it wasn’t a big deal at all, that she just had a weird reaction to a pain pill that she was taking for a broken toe, and that her mom overreacted. Meanwhile, there’s a 911 call from her mom, freaking out that Mindy took a whole bottle of pills. Case closed, right? Why would someone’s mom lie to a 911 operator? Well, in fact, Mindy and her mom are currently in a custody battle over Mindy’s son. So I’m thinking, if Mindy’s mom doesn’t want to give the boy up, what a perfect way to make sure Mindy doesn’t get him back, right? As usual, it’s all a big huge DRAMATIC mess.

There’s going to be a big shindig at the White House next week for Paul McCartney, who is being given the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize of Popular Song. No, I’ve never heard of it either, but I can confirm that Sir McCartney has written many hits. The gang of superstars performing at the tribute includes Stevie Wonder, the Jonas Brothers (just for the Obama girls?), Emmy Lou Harris and Faith Hill. Jerry Seinfeld will also be there to make some jokes. We’ll let you know if there’s any video.

West Virginians were so appreciative of Jackson they made him an “honorary West Virginian” in recognition of the benefit show he did last weekend for the families affected by the Montcoal mining disaster.  Not only did AJ give free tickets to 231 rescuers who worked on the scene, he also met with 27 of the affected  families before the show to express his condolences.  The family of Cory Davis– who would have turned 21 on the night of the concert — gave Alan a bracelet with their son’s name and birthdate, which he wore through the show.  Proceeds from the show were donated to the disaster fund as well.

Sounds like a potential disaster.  But in fact, it’s quite awesome!  Beyonce has a song called “If I Were a Boy,”  which is about a woman explaining how much better she’d treat girlfriends if she were “the boy”.  Here’s a link to Reba’s unplugged videos.  And below is the video of the Beyonce song.  I think it should be a single…what do you think?

Dierks Bentley got to have a little private Oval Office meeting with President Obama last week when we went through Washington.  Every since Obama quoted Dierks at the White House country music night (“Country music is the cheapest shrink $15 can buy.” )  Dierks has been wanting to meet the man, and he got to visit Obama and deliver his new CD, which we won’t get to hear until June 8th.  Pays to be the prez.
