Last week we had our pals The Band Perry on the show, and we actually helped them push, Lamaze style, to try and get their song “If I Die Young” up to the #1 spot.  Since they’re kind of new to the music biz, we basically convinced them that it would help if we actually grunted and pushed.  Well, it turns out it worked!  Congrats to Kimberly, Neil and Reid on their first-ever #1 song.  We’ve been “pushing” for them ever since we first met them.

Keith Urban’s first visit with Oprah…I knew it was going to be a love-fest because ever since he’s been with Nicole and gotten sober, Keith is pretty spiritual and effusive about his love for his wife.  And Oprah LOVES that kind of stuff.  She was lapping it up!  Keith was visibly nervous, I think because he knew he was going to have to go a little more personal than usual because that’s the way Opie rolls.  But he was really charming and adorable, and I think he probably got some new fans.  If you want to see him talking about how Nic saved him from drugs, click here.

Not only were they spotted getting coffee in both Brooklyn and Nashville over the holiday weekend, they also have an official celebrity couple name: “Taylenhall.” Okay, that’s really dumb. I didn’t make it up. But there you go. Here they are on their Nashville coffee run:

Someone with a lot of spare time figured out that if you go to Google Translate, type a special phrase of nonsense into the box, and then choose to translate it from German TO German . . . it sounds like Google is beatboxing.

The phrase to type:   pv zk pv pv zk pv zk kz zk pv pv pv zk pv zk zk pzk pzk pvzkpkzvpvzk kkkkkk bsch

Kanye/Taylor Update: Just when we thought it was time to forgive and forget about the whole bleedin’ VMA speech interruption incident, Kanye flaps his mouth once again. You might remember that after his outburst, he apologized about a million times, saying he was overworked and going through a rough time and that he needed time off to re-evaluate, etc. etc. So I was a little surprised to hear that Kanye is officially no longer sorry. At a show last week in New York, he said this about Taylor: “Taylor Swift never came to my defense in any interview….and rode it, and rode it.” He went on to say, “If I wasn’t drunk, I woulda been on stage [when I interrupted Taylor] longer.” Ouch!

Okay, brace yourself. Willie Nelson was busted for pot!!! Shocker, right? He was crossing the border from Mexico to Texas when he was pulled over at a routine checkpoint. Turns out he had about 6 ounces of pot with him, which is actually an improvement from his last bust in 2006 when he had ONE AND A HALF POUNDS of the stuff! So Willie’s response to the whole thing is to start a new political party! It’s not the Tea Party, it’s the Teapot party. Their slogan, he says, is “we lean a little to the left,” and their agenda, as you can imagine, involves the legalization of certain substances that Willie likes.

And one of them is right here in town!  September 6th is when T-Swizzle will roll through town, after a tour that takes her literally around the world and back again.  No word yet on ticket dates, but at least we know she’ll be here next year.
