LeAnn Rimes put on a super-skimpy santa suit for a crowd of men, but none of them were falling all over her…probably because it was the LA Gay Mens Chorus, and she was performing with them for a holiday benefit.  Check out the way she posed on Twitter:

Whoa.  Anyway, it sounds like it was a lovely show, and after a few holiday songs LeAnn did eventually put some clothes on and get serious.  She sang “The Rose”, which she dedicated to all the young gay and lesbian kids who have taken their lives this year.  Her BF Eddie Cibrian was in the crowd cheering her on, so come to think of it there was one guy there who was enjoying the sexy santa suit.

Congrats to Shania Twain, who has just confirmed that she’s been engaged to her boyfriend Frederic Thiebaud for a few months now.  For those of you unfamiliar with the saga, Shania’s 14 year marriage to Mutt Lange fell apart when Shania found out that Mutt was cheating with her best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud (allegedly….the two still deny it).  So during that difficult time, who’s going to understand what you are going through better than Marie-Anne’s husband, Fred?  When the two turned to each other for comfort, the relationship blossomed, and so did Shania.  She has spent the past few years traveling and loving life with her new man, who seems to make her very happy.  So congrats to the two of them, and here is her official statement.

1)  Congratulations to Jay DeMarcus, who has finally joined the other Rascal Flatts and become a daddy.  His daughter, Madeline Leigh, was born over the weekend and though she was a few weeks early everything is great.  Jays says she’s gorgeous and she looks just like her daddy!

2)  Congrats to Josh Turner, whose wife Jennifer just gave birth to a third son.  Yep.  3 boys under five.  Hampton’s 4 and Colby is 18 months.  The new guy is named Crawford Marion Turner.  I LOVE the name Crawford, and honestly just figured the “Marion” was something they threw in there because it was a family name, then I saw Josh’s statement:  “Jennifer and I are overjoyed with Marion’s arrival.”  Well at least he’ll have two big brothers to protect him on the playground, right?

3)  Yay for Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery, who is recuperating after prostate cancer surgery.  Doctors say it’s unlikely he’ll need any more treatment, and he’s already planning a USO tour for early next year.  For now he’s resting comfortably at home, and if he gets bored he can always thumb through those divorce papers his wife just sent over for entertainment.

The new Tim McGraw movie, “Country Strong,” stars Gwyneth Paltrow as a country singer who gets down on her luck, goes to rehab and ties to revive her career.  You’d think it was inspired by a country star, but the writer/director says she based it on the career of Britney Spears.  Shana Feste says, “I think it’s tragic how we treat people who give us so much, and we love to see them knocked down to build them back up again, to knock them down again.  It’s a weird fascination.”  Guilty as charged, I must admit.  The movie opens January 7th, but you can win passes to our special Wolf screening on the 5th with us on OR vs WA, starting Monday.

Pop sensation/haircut model/teen singer Justin Beiber will soon be in Nashville, recording his part of a duet he’s doing with Rascal Flatts.  So is the Bieb-ster going country?  Doesn’t sound like it.  Because the song will be on Justin’s next CD, sounds more like Rascal Flatts are dipping a toe into pop.  Of course some traditionalists would say they already have more than a toe in that format, but there you go.

That question will soon be answered, as Tim goes on that show called “Who Do You Think You Are?”  This is a show on NBC that was started by “Friends” actress Lisa Kudrow, which allows celebs to trace their family trees back and find out who their ancestors are.  Ashley Judd will also be on the show this coming season, which starts up in January.

Of course, Tim has already had one major family tree surprise in his lifetime.  In case you never heard the story, it happened when Tim was about 12 and looking through a closet.  He found a shoebox with his birth certificate inside, and in the spot where you write the dad’s name, his single mom had written the name of baseball star Tug McGraw.  Turned out to be true!

By the way, having nothing to do with anything, Tim will be on the Ellen show today.  (3 pm KGW 8)

When you’re Jake Gyllenhaal (whose name I have been spelling wrong all this time, apparently) and you’re dating a super-rich super-star, what can you get her for her birthday that will really make her swoon?  Jake solved this problem by getting his GF Taylor Swift a super-fancy Fender guitar autographed by music legend Chet Atkins.  Taylor had seen it at a shop in Nashville and drooled over it a bit.  Jake filed this away and then threw down the $11k asking price to make Taylor’s 21st b-day special.  Sweet.  Oh, and by the way, Jake has publicly broken the silence about his relationship with Taylor, saying he’s taking it slow.   “It’s going to be a slow, long burn for me,” he says.  “I’m not rushing into anything.”

The Judds were part of Larry King’s last week on the air, and Wynonna, who’s lost 55 pounds, dished a little bit about herself.  She says she’s got a new boyfriend, that she’s “very much in love” and that he’s a “rock star.”  Who is he?  Well you’ll just have to tune in to Wy and Naomi’s new show on Oprah’s OWN network next year to find out!  Talk about a tease.  Wy says she’s known this guy for 25 years, and that “it’s going to come out on the show in March.”  Sheesh.  One thing I will say.  People use the term “rock star” a lot of different ways these days.  It might just mean she thinks he’s a great guy.

This should be pretty cool:  The boys of Rascal Flatts are going to do some real live acting!  They’ve been tapped to appear in a TV mini-series about the Civil War called “To Appomattox,” and unlike their previous acting gigs (CSI, The Hannah Montana Movie) they won’t be playing themselves.  I’m having a hard time picturing our favorite hair gel enthusiasts going full Civil War, but I’m totally into it.   No details yet on which network will air it and when it will air, but I’ll let you know.
