What a wild story!  A while back I told you about a doctor in Canada who was arrested for stalking Shania Twain.  Well it’s time for his trial, and man, has it been a trip!  First of all, the ex-wife of the accused (whose name is Giovanni Palumbo), testified about how when they were married, he used to ask her to dress like Shania, wear her hair like Shania, lose weight so she’d look more like Shania…you get the picture.  Then it was time for Shania herself to testify, but she had no desire to be in the same room as that man, so she provided a video-taped statement.  About 90 minutes in to Shania’s tape, which involved her reading creepy letters he had sent to her and other weird stuff, Palumbo suddenly and dramatically stood up.  He announced that he was changing his plea from not guilty to guilty!  ”Eilleen,” he said, “you can trust me, I’m going to plead guilty.”  Weeeeeird!  So looks like he’ll be doing some jail time, which will be a relief for Ms. Twain.

Remember Steel Magnolia?  They won that show, “Can You Duet,” and they had a hit with “Keep on Lovin’ You.”  They opened for Brad Paisley once on the side stage at the Sleep Co. Amphitheater, too, I remember that.  Anyway, they were just about to head out on tour opening for Reba, when Meghan Linsey, who is engaged to her bandmate Joshua Scott Jones, announced that he was “unable to perform.”  Now we know why:  Josh has gone into rehab.  His statement mentions “alcohol and substance abuse” as the reason.  I feel bad for Meghan, who has to deal with this on both a personal and professional level.  Good for him, though, for getting treatment.

Lady A makes their first appearance on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night, and they are psyched! As Charles says, “It gives me chills to think there’s some teenage kid who stays up and goes, ‘Oh my God.  I’ve kind of heard of them.’”  I think because we have all grown up with that show and remember learning about new bands from it, a gig on SNL still means a lot to most bands.  Catch it at 11:30 on Channel 8 tomorrow.

I’m not sure why Blake is in this video…but as always he’s funny! Fast forward to the 1:38 mark to see the cameo by Blake Shelton. I hear this pop singer is a big fan of Blake’s wife Miranda Lambert!

Kind of.  He was on “Ellen” yesterday and she talked him into appearing in “As the Tide Turns,” a jokey soap opera she has created to sell Tide detergent.  This required a little acting, and I have to say that Luke needs a bit of work in that area!  At any rate, Ellen does get him to strip down a bit, ripping his shirt open in a very soap-y move.  He also sang, by the way…

Blake Shelton has been nominated for an MTV “O” Award. What’s an O Award? One of the jillions of awards that MTV hands out, and in this case it’s for online achievements. Blake is nominated for “Must-Follow Artist” on Twitter. If you follow Blake on there, you know he enjoys ranting about how drunk he is and generally making random statements that are often hysterically funny, just not exactly family-friendly. So is this award-winning stuff? He’ll have to beat Cher and Snoop Dogg and a few others, so we shall see!

Who knows why, but Blake Shelton appears in this video by pop singer Cady Groves.  The song is called “This Little Girl”, which sounds all sweet and innocent, but it’s actually about how she is capable of murder if you hurt her.  In the video, she’s stalking her boyfriend, or maybe ex-boyfriend, who is with another girl.  As she sits with her binoculars, creepily spying on the guy, Blake appears as a tow truck driver and tells her she’s parked illegally.  He actually does a great job, and it’s like the opposite of someone who “cleans up good,”…Blake dirties up good.

So why Cady Groves? The only clue we can gather is that she once described herself this way: “If Miranda Lambert, Paramore, The Dixie Chicks and Taylor Swift had a less talented baby, that would be me.” And I guess Blake digs Miranda, who has a lot of songs about burning down ex’s houses and such, so maybe that’s why this revenge song caught his eye.

Somehow in between tweeting all those pics of herself on the beach, LeAnn Rimes found the time to make a brand new album!  It’s called “Lady and Getlemen,” and the concept is that she’s singing a bunch of classic country songs made famous by men.  For as much as I tease about her on the air, I’ve got to say she sounds fantastic singing these songs, like “16 Tons,” “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” and “When I call Your Name.”  To hear some bits and pieces,  click here.
