Congrats to our pal Blake Shelton, whose latest song “God Gave Me You” is his 5th #1 hit in a row!  So where did this song come from?  Blake says that during a low point in his up and down phase with now-wife Miranda Lambert, he was driving along in his truck and pushing buttons on the radio.  When he heard Dave Barnes singing the song, which he also wrote, Blake says he almost had to pull over.  ”I felt like I was hearing that song at that moment for a reason,”  he says.  Here’s the original version:

Here’s the official Footloose video that debuted last night…

And here’s an unofficial video you might like if you’ve ever enjoyed the lip-sync stylings of youtube phenom Keenan:

I’m not sure why Blake is in this video…but as always he’s funny! Fast forward to the 1:38 mark to see the cameo by Blake Shelton. I hear this pop singer is a big fan of Blake’s wife Miranda Lambert!

Who knows why, but Blake Shelton appears in this video by pop singer Cady Groves.  The song is called “This Little Girl”, which sounds all sweet and innocent, but it’s actually about how she is capable of murder if you hurt her.  In the video, she’s stalking her boyfriend, or maybe ex-boyfriend, who is with another girl.  As she sits with her binoculars, creepily spying on the guy, Blake appears as a tow truck driver and tells her she’s parked illegally.  He actually does a great job, and it’s like the opposite of someone who “cleans up good,”…Blake dirties up good.

So why Cady Groves? The only clue we can gather is that she once described herself this way: “If Miranda Lambert, Paramore, The Dixie Chicks and Taylor Swift had a less talented baby, that would be me.” And I guess Blake digs Miranda, who has a lot of songs about burning down ex’s houses and such, so maybe that’s why this revenge song caught his eye.

Check him out about 1 minute and 30 seconds in…

Since snagging Miranda Lambert, I guess Blake Shelton is now seen as something of a romance expert. In this month’s issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, Blake shares tips for women about what men like…for example, he says men “want a woman who makes you want to be buddies with her as much as you want to be romantic with her.” He also says that women should be okay going to a sports bar, and “not just sit in a corner” when the boyfriend’s friends are around. He claims that “no guy wants to hear constant chatter,” so I guess that rules me out!

He looks like he's going to kick some butt, doesn't he?

Eric Church, that’s who.  I have to admit I’m surprised that he’s on track to sell more copies of his new CD “Chief” this week than Blake sold during his first week with “Red River Blue.”  So even with Blake’s sudden superstar status thanks to  ”The Voice” and “The Marriage” to Miranda Lambert, Eric Church is going to have higher numbers, with an expected 120-130,000 copies sold (Blake sold 116,000).  Like Blake, Eric will be at the top of the Billboard 200, which means he’s got the top CD of any kind of music this week.  So congratulations to secret superstar Eric Church!

I know this is too small to read, but there's a link below.

I love it when we can get a hold of the “riders” for country stars on tour. What’s a “rider”? It’s the list in the artist’s contract that states exactly what refreshments they require to be waiting for them in their tour buses at concerts. As you can imagine, Blake Shelton’s does not disappoint! You have to go pretty far down the list before you get to anything non-liquid. Past the Beer, the Bacardi, and the Red Bull, you’ll find a snack or two. But really, that’s it.  Click here to see the whole thing.

It’s been a crazy week for newlyweds Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. They’ve been in New York City promoting various things, including Blake’s new CD, “Red River Blue.” Below you’ll find a video of Blake on the Jimmy Fallon show, goofing off Jimmy and dueting on a cheesy old song known as the “Pina Colada Song.” But if you want to see how much life has changed for Blake and Miranda, click here and watch this video of their attempt to be normal and just step out to the pharmacy for some tylenol.  They’re suddenly at that point where they get swarmed everywhere they go!  And it doesn’t help that Blake is about 7 feet tall.  Anyway, here he is with Jimmy:

We all know that when Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert first met while on tour together,  Blake was married to his high school sweetheart.  So what exactly went down?  In tonight’s episode of VH1’s “Behind the Music”, the now-married Blake and Miranda talk frankly about how they felt when they first met, and what they did about it, which, by the way, was nothing!  Here’s a little sneak preview:

“Red River Blue” hits stores today.  That’s Blake Shelton’s brand new CD, and I have a feeling he’s going to see some numbers that are a lot higher than he’s used to.  His stint on “The Voice” and his marriage to Miranda Lambert have turned up the heat on Blake’s career in a big way.  I’ve even heard “Honey Bee” on pop radio (yes, my daughter makes me listen to top 40 sometimes) so it will be interesting to see how many CDs he sells this week.  Tonight Blake will hang out with David Letterman, and tomorrow he’ll visit Regis and Kelly in the AM and Jimmy Fallon in the PM.

Chris Young also has a new release today, “Neon.”  It includes the hit “Tomorrow” and a bunch of future hits as well.

Check out Chris without his hat!
