Remember when Carrie Underwood used to be sooooo tight-lipped about her personal life? Well now that she’s engaged to Mike Fisher, or her Honky Hockey Hunk as we like to call him, she’s happy to spill the beans on their wedding and other future plans. She says that even though they’re marrying, they’re not really going to settle down in any one place. She says, “We’ll be little nomads for a while, until one of us retires. Not being in the same room won’t lessen our relationship. We completely have faith in each other.” She also says that Mike will be a way better parent than her because he’s more used to kids than she is. Maybe when Mike retires from hockey, he can be a super-cute honky hunky stay-at-home-dad.

CBS has done an excellent job of promoting Carrie Underwood’s upcoming acting debut on “How I Met Your Mother.”  It looks like it could be pretty funny!  Here’s a clip:

Not only has Carrie Underwood become a worm, she’s proud of it!  Sesame Street has created a muppet called Carrie Underworm, a little orange worm with a blonde wig, and she sings with Carrie’s voice. Check her out! The show airs this Thursday on PBS and then will be repeated a bunch of times next month.

Carrie Underwood did a fab job of singing the National Anthem at the Superbowl, all the way up ’til the very last note, which was just a tad flat.  Now there is only one reason I am pointing this out:  It means she definitely sang it live, which takes nerves of steel…no one does that anymore!  So kudos to her.  But there is one person who out-sang Carrie, and that’s Carrie herself at the sound check previous to the game.  to hear Carrie flawlessly sing the song, check out the second video.

Here’s the sound check:

I’m talking Carrie Underwood, and I’m talking T-Pain, the rapper who has made a career out of auto-tuning his voice to sound all robot-y. T-Pain was the dude who did that funny rap video with Taylor Swift last year at the CMT Music Awards, and now he says he wants to work with Carrie. In fact he said this: “Next person I want to work with, and I won’t work with anyone else until I get her, is Carrie Underwood. Everyone else can s#@k it until I get to Carrie.”  Well, enough said!

It’s official that Carrie Underwood will be singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl!  She’s the first country act since the Dixie Chicks in 2003 to be invited to sing at the event.  I’m sure she’ll be great.  Of course, nowadays, artists are pressured to pre-record their anthems whether they want to or not.  I think after the whole Janet Jackson thing  the networks are looking to minimize the surprises.  So rest assured, Carrie’s anthem will be great, and she will do country music proud as always. Here are a few other Carrie Anthems to get you excited:

How is it possible that Carrie Underwood will soon perform with Michael Jackson?  Well, it’s a 3-D version of Michael that is being created for a special Grammy performance where musical superstars will pay tribute to MJ.  The group of performers  includes big names like Celene Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson and Carrie.  The 3-D footage of Michael Jackson is from a mini-movie he had created for his comeback tour, and TV viewers at home who want the full experience can pick up the 3-D glasses at Target.  Grammy Awards are January 31st, so you have a few weeks to pick up the specs.

BethanyHamilton

These days it seems we find out everything about Carrie Underwood’s life from Twitter before we find it out from her.  First the engagement, and now a big acting gig?  Actor Kevin Sorbo tweeted recently that his next big project is a movie called “Soul Surfer,”  which tells the story of Bethany Hamilton, the girl who lost her arm in a tiger shark attack at the age of 13.  Kevin says the movie will star “Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood and Anna Sophia Robb.”  don’t worry, Carrie’s first major acting gig won’t be as a one-armed surfing 13 year-old.  She has some kind of supporting role.  We’ll let you know if and when this Tweet becomes a confirmed fact.

Some Americal Idol alums prefer to distance themselves from the show that made them famous, which seems a little ungrateful to me.  But Carrie Underwood is not one of those alums.  She says she loves to go back on that show for lots of reasons, but one of them is that so many of the people working behind the scenes are the same people who were there when she was a contestant.  She says we shouldn’t be surprised to see her back for a visit in season 9…maybe a duet with General Larry Platt of “Pants on the Ground“?
