Turns out Paisley has a huge crush on Carrie Underwood, but in this case, it’s Brad Paisley’s 4 year-old son Huck. Last week Carrie was hanging out at Brad’s studio on his property (because they’re recording their first ever duet together….yay!!!) and Huck fell in instantly in love with her. On Valentine’s day, he went out to the store with his mom and picked out some roses for her, then dictated a note to go with them: “I hope you have an incredible day and night. Love, Huck.” Then when his parents allowed him to visit the studio, he did the only thing he could think of that might impress her. He flexed his arms he-man style and shouted out, “Hey, Carrie!! Look how strong I am!!!” The guy’s got the moves already.

Not just any old man, it’s musical icon Tony Bennett, and to celebrate his 85th birthday he’s doing a second CD of duets with a bunch of famous people. Carrie has been invited to participate, along with heartthrob Josh Groban and drug-addled British trainwreck/singer Amy Winehouse (kind of a weird choice!) I’m sure more superstars will sign on soon, as the CD is slated to come out this September.

Seems impossible to even imagine, but there are some Ottowans who aren’t very happy with our Carrie right now.  Why?  Because her hubby, Mike Fisher, has just been traded to Nashville’s hockey team, the Predators from his hometown team, the Ottowa Senators.  Now Mike is not a free agent, so he did not orchestrate this trade, but that hasn’t stopped at least one radio station from declaring a ban on all things Carrie Underwood.  They claim he was “lured away” to Music City by his wife, even though she and Mike had little or no control over the situation.  Having said that, you can bet that Carrie is pretty psyched that she doesn’t have to split her time between two countries anymore.

Every year you hear people grumble about the award nominations, both ACMs and CMAs, saying it’s all “political.”  So what does that mean, exactly?  That the vote is rigged somehow among the Nashville insiders who do the nominating?  Well, yes and no.  Mainly, it means that a big record label that has a big group of voters could decide to vote as a block for a particular artist.   This year, a Nashville gossip dude named Jimmy Carter says that insiders told him that one of those blocks deliberately voted for Miranda Lambert over Carrie Underwood.  Which explains why radio and touring powerhouse Carrie only got one nomination.

Okay, so it’s not a huge scandal or anything, and they’re both very talented, lovely, wealthy and successful women.  But if I were Carrie and I’d just put a TON of energy and effort into a huge and amazing tour, I’d be a little bit bummed out.  Though I suppose a few years back, it was probably “her year,” and that same block voted for her over Faith Hill or Martina McBride or whoever.

I should really say “get to,” and I literally mean sleep with.  In the same bed.  I’m talking about Carrie Underwood and her new husband Mike Fisher.  They’ve currently resigned themselves to a life of shuttling between Nashville, where she works, and Ottowa, where he plays hockey with the Senators.  But rumors are swirling around Ottowa that Mike may soon be traded to the Nashville Predators.  Now how convenient would that be??  Right now, he still has 2 years left on his $4.2 million contract, but there is no “no trade” clause in there, so his team can do whatever they want with him.  Right now this is just in the rumor phase, but the local Ottowa paper, the Citizen, has been pretty accurate when it comes to Mr. and Mrs. Fisher.  Stay tuned!

congressional Republicans, that’s who.  the new crop of Republicans are using Carrie Underwood’s song as a rallying cry as they attempt to “undo” the legislation that was passed when the Democrats had firm control over Congress.  They’re using the song as kind of an official theme, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that Carrie agrees with them.  No permission is required, and it’s not likely you’ll hear anything about it from her, as she has said publicly that celebs should keep their political opinions to themselves.

Carrie Underwood will be at the swanky Golden Globes next month as a nominee!  Her song “There’s A Place For Us” from the new Narnia movie has been nominated in the Best Original Song category, and since she co-wrote it she’ll get the award if the song wins.  Carrie competes with another Nashville song, “Coming Home,” from the movie “Country Strong”, which is sung by Gwyneth Paltrow and happens to be co-written by the same woman who co-wrote Carrie’s song.  Watch Carrie hobnob with the Hollywood bigwigs on January 16th, Channel 8, at 5 pm.

Now I love that US Weekly as much as the next person in line at the grocery store, but lately they’ve been dredging up gossip from the country music world, and I’m not sure their stories are all that accurate.

First of all, they described this whole throw-down that supposedly happened on November 10th at Miranda Lambert’s birthday party, where Miranda threw a shot into the face of the lead singer of a band called Nickelback, and then Blake Shelton tried to start a fight with this dude.  Okay, November 10th was the CMAs, and after the ceremony we were actually at a party with Blake and Chad, the Nickelback guy, with Miranda off at her own record label party.  We left at 1 and Blake and Chad were still there, so either US got the date wrong or they just plain made it up.

Second of all, US Weekly has just reported that Carrie Underwood was a bee-otch to young actress/singer Leighton Meester backstage at the CMA ceremony.  Supposedly, she went up to a very nervous Leighton, who was about to present an award, and said, “Get out there and don’t F#@ it up.”   And that really freaked out poor little Leighton!  Okay, first of all, can we imagine Carrie acting like that?  No.  Second of all, we were at the CMA rehearsals at the moment when Carrie introduced Leighton, and during a little lag time they were standing on the stage together, talking and laughing off-mic.  So did Carrie suddenly turn on her?  I kinda doubt it.

Now I’m all confused about US Weekly.  Are Stars Really Just Like Us?  I don’t know anymore.

look how purty she is. (theo wargo – wireimage)

She’s already got loads of CMAs, ACMs, AMAs, and whatnot.  But could Carrie Underwood be up for an Oscar this year?  Not for acting, though her first movie appearance will happen in “Soul Surfer” next April.  this one would be for music.  The third “Chronicles of Narnia” movie comes out December 10th, and it features a song co-written and sung by Carrie called “There’s a Place for Us.”  the song will play as the credits roll at the end, and I just have a hunch it will get a nomination…big stars usually do when they record these power ballads for big fancy movies.

When is Carrie Underwood going to breed? Turns out it’s not up to her new husband Mike Fisher, it’s up to…her girlfriends? Carrie says she and her pals have a “pregnancy pact,” which means they plan to try and have kids all at the same time so they can babysit each other’s kids and they’ll all be pals. I would think this is weird, except I basically did the same thing with my friends and it’s worked out great. So go, Carrie!
