This morning was the big announcement of all of the Oscar nominations.  But since there is only one minor country nomination (Carrie Underwood got passed over for her Narnia song, but “Coming Home” from Country Strong got a nod), let’s talk instead about some other big award nominations:   

Billy Ray Cyrus is a “proud” nominee in the annual Razzies, which are the awards given out each year at the same time as the Oscars, honoring the WORST in film.  Billy Ray is up for Worst Supporting Actor for his role as Colton James in “The Spy Next Door,” a Jackie Chan film.  He’ll compete against castmate Goerge Lopez, who is a triple threat with additional nominations for “Marmaduke” and “Valentine’s Day.”

And now, on to the Golden Moose(s)…Golden Moose?  Meece?  These are the awards given out by the Outdoor Channel to recognize their own shows, and as you may know, Craig Morgan has a show called “All Access Outdoors” that is their highest rated Saturday morning show.  BUT, scandalously enough, Craig was passed over completely in every category he was nominated in….Best Fishing, Best Sound Design, even the Best Commercial with Mellennium Treestands!  Sheesh!

“Extreme aerial bowfishing”….the mind reels with possibilities of what this could possibly be, right? Well check out this amazing video of Craig Morgan doing this new sport, which is the result of an infestation of a certain type of carp on a river in Illinois. Here’s the deal: these giant fish get stirred up by boat motors and do these crazy flips. So some very smart river guides decided to create a brand new sport, where you shoot the fish in mid-air with a bow. It is just too much to behold! He’s mourning the loss of his mom, Betty Sue Crockett, who passed away over the weekend after a battle with cancer.  Betty was only 63, which I’m sure feels way too young to her family, who called her a “loving wife, mother, cabinet maker and an amazing cook to her family and friends.”

Coming to a TV near you: Craig Morgan. The guy loves to hunt, fish, ride on dangerous things and sometimes fall off of them, so it makes sense that the Outdoor Channel would want to follow him around with cameras. “Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors” premieres this Saturday at 11 am.

Well, it’s only shocking because, really, who records songs in bathrooms? Craig Morgan does, apparently. He was on the road and suddenly had the idea to turn “Bonfire” into a Christmas song. He had a right equipment in his hotel room, and the best acoustics were in the bathroom, so that’s where he recorded the new Christmas lyrics. To be more specific, it was in room 418 at the Holiday Inn Express in Kennesaw, Georgia. If you’re ever in town, it’s the Craig Morgan Bathroom Suite…ask for it by name.
