There’s going to be a big shindig at the White House next week for Paul McCartney, who is being given the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize of Popular Song. No, I’ve never heard of it either, but I can confirm that Sir McCartney has written many hits. The gang of superstars performing at the tribute includes Stevie Wonder, the Jonas Brothers (just for the Obama girls?), Emmy Lou Harris and Faith Hill. Jerry Seinfeld will also be there to make some jokes. We’ll let you know if there’s any video.

When songwriter Jenny Plume came to a Children’s Hospital in Nashville to do a music therapy program for the kids there, everyone thought it was a good idea.  But it’s turned into even more than that as several songs written by kids in the hospital are getting the star treatment.  Faith Hill is going to record a song by a 12 year-old girl named Gigi Pasley who has been battling cancer for 10 years.  Vince Gill is going to record a song by a teenager with cystic fibrosis about a soldier who is torn between his second tour of duty in Iraq and staying home to care for his little brother.  Sounds like some good stuff!  We’ll keep you posted.

This week Sweden’s pride ABBA was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Faith Hill was there to help them celebrate.  She countrified the classic ABBA song “Winner Takes It All,” sounding and looking just lovely.  To watch it, click here.

Here are Tim and Faith on the Red Carpet last night:

I guess you really have to make sacrifices to stay home with your kid.  That must be why Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman came in at the BOTTOM of Forbes’ annual list of the top earning couples in Entertainment.  Oh, sure, they still made the list, but they’re at #15 with a paltry $17 million in earnings for June 08-June 09.  Keith did tour, and Nicole acted a bit, but they kept their schedules under control so that they could have some quality family time.  Tim and Faith are the only other country pair on the list, with their earnings estimated at $28 million.  Now THAT I could work with.

Well, you don’t have to, but that’s what’s cool about the show that Faith Hill is hosting tonight on CBS, “A Home for the Holidays”.  This is the 11th annual, and one of the reasons this show comes back year after year is that it actually does inspire people to adopt kids.  Stories from people like Faith, who was adopted at birth, and other celebs who were either adopted or have adopted kids help make the point about how great it can be.  Tonight’s show also features performances from Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire.  That’s at 8 o’clock tonight on CBS (6).
