…or one of them, at least, according to People magazine. Every November they do their “Sexiest Man Alive” issue, and they’ve released a video of Jake at his photo shoot, which means he’s made it into the issue. No word yet on who is THE sexiest man alive, but my money’s on Ryan Gosling for this year.

Well in this day and age, all it takes is one dinner for online gossip sites to decide you are “dating.” So when Jake Owen dined out with tennis champ Serena Williams on Friday night in Beverly Hills, and she tweeted about it, a few websites decided they just might be “dating.” What’s much more likely is that Jake knows Serena through his childhood pal, tennis champ Mardy Fish. He may have even been trying to persuade Serena to come to his big annual tennis and music benefit he throws every year in his hometown in Florida. We’ve got a call in to him to find out more, but I can pretty much tell you now that this is very unlikely to be a love match. (ooooh, that is a terrible tennis pun.)

the new guy…
Goodbye, Vern…Hello, Merle. Jake Owen has swapped road dogs. His beloved bulldog Vern toured with him for ages, but Jake says road life didn’t agree with him, and he became “lonesome and ornery and mean.” So now Vern’s retired from the road and Jake’s other dog, also a bulldog, is on the bus and so far he loves it. Jake will roll into town at the end of the next week, and we look forward to meeting the new guy.
So this is Lacey Buchanan. She’s a model, and you might have also seen her in two of Jake Owen’s videos, “Eight Second Ride” and his newest, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.” She’s also Jake’s girlfriend. But when you ask him about her, here is what he says….word for word!
“She was in the Eight Second Ride video…and so we just kept in touch. I mean, she was definitely not my girlfriend.” (Uh huh….go on, Jake) ”I don’t even really like to call her…she doesn’t even like…I don’t even like to call her my girlfriend now.” (Wuh-oh…but wait a minute, he’s changing his mind…) ”But I mean, we are.” (whooo hoooo!) ”We’ve been dating for a while. It’s kind of one of those cool things where it just works out, you know? Like, years pass. Two years passed and we somehow came back together. And here we are.” Everyone, all together now: Awwwwwwww!!!!!
By the way, we chat with Jake tomorrow morning at 7:40 and you know we will be teasing him about this because we love him.
Our pal Jake Owen has a brand new CD today. It’s called “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” and guess what? The smash hit song “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” is on there! Maybe we’re biased but we feel that there is probably another hit or two lurking on this CD as well. Plus, look at him.

Congrats to Jake Owen, who will be opening for Keith Urban on Keith’s “Get Closer” tour this year. that’s a major gig! And we love Jake. So that’s why I’m telling you about it. Sadly, there’s no Portland date, just Seattle on the 29th of September for now. Fingers crossed that they’ll add some more dates.
Ahev you ever seen a Tweet or a Facebook update about a really cool sounding party, and then realized you weren’t invited? Well it happens to country stars, too. John Rich tweeted this earlier in the week: “(Financial Guru) Dave Ramsey speaking at my house tonight to the up and coming country artists! What a deal!” Fellow country artist Jake Owen happened to see this, and feeling like he was an up and coming country artist, tweeted back, “where’s my invite?” Turns out it was a CMA sponsored event and John Rich didn’t have anything to do with the guest list, and I guess the artists were less known than Jake, but still…
