Love the fact that Jimmy Wayne is walking all the way from Nashville to Arizona to bring attention to the cause of foster teens who end up homeless.  So I like to keep you updated on how he’s doing, especially since he’s almost made it to his destination.  Along the way recently, he passed through a little place called Pie Town, New Mexico.  So wouldn’t you think that they’d be awfully excited about a country singer strolling through such a tiny town?  Not so much.  Turns out they somehow heard that Jimmy BUFFETT, not Jimmy Wayne, was headed their way.  So when Jimmy WAYNE got there, he was greeted with a lot of disappointed Pie Towners who had been so excited to see the other Jimmy.  They’d even baked a special Margaritaville pie.  Jimmy Wayne said it was a little depressing at first, but he soon won them over and ended up staying for two nights.  And now the residents of the fine metropolis of Pie Town are all diehard Jimmy WAYNE fans.

He said he was going to do it, and he’s almost done it! To bring attention to foster kids who grow up, leave the system and end up homeless (which is what happened to him), country singer Jimmy Wayne is walking halfway across America. He started in the dead of winter in Nashville, and has persevered through some of the nastiest weather ever to get to his destination of Phoenix, Arizona. He’s now 60 miles from the Arizona border, and along the way he has done a great job of getting people involved in his cause. The only breaks he’s taken were to speak to the California Senate and the US Senate about foster kids and homelessness. So hats off to Jimmy, who has shown the rest of us what real commitment to a cause is all about.

I’ve told you that the singer is embarked on a huge journey…he’s walking, WALKING from Nashville to Phoenix to bring attention to the cause of homeless teens (he used to be one).  He’s truly walking the whole way, but some nice fans have donated an RV and driver that accompanies him and carries some of his gear.  Though Jimmy was planning to camp out most of the way, the insane weather has driven him to spend many nights in hotels, and it was on one of those nights recently that some jerk broke into Jimmy’s donated RV and stole everything!  All his extra clothes, and all the instruments and gear he needs to do performances along the way.  Nice, huh?  Jimmy says the name and the purpose of his mission were on the side of the RV, so whoever stole the stuff must have known there were stealing from a charitable cause.   Meanwhile, if you’d like to follow Jimmy on his adventure, he’s got a website  that shows you everything you need to know.
