When Josh’s third little boy was born, we heard his name was Crawford Marion Turner. Cool name! Then when we heard that he and his wife were going to call him “Marion,” we wondered if maybe they were just getting frustrated that they didn’t have a daughter. Turns out that little Marion is named after — not John Wayne, whose real name was Marion — but Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion. Known as the Swamp Fox, Marion was quite a fascinating character, a guy who used guerrilla tactics to defeat the British in the South Carolina area. He was so popular that many places and things are named after him, including Marion County, Oregon, and the Marionberry!
