Of course Tim was there because his movie, “The Blind Side,” was nominated for Best Picture.  But who wasn’t there?  Nicole Kidman.  she was hanging out in Australia with the fam:

Jet setting duo Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman showed up in Vancouver to watch the olympic ice dancing competition.  Check out the kooky moose binoculars:

Keith needs to be careful when he takes questions from 5th graders at meet and greets, especially when they ask him questions like this one:

If you recall, the actual answer to the question of what he got Nicole for V-Day is a “naughty schoolgirl outfit” from a lingerie store in West Hollywood.

Note to self:  If I ever become famous, I must remember NEVER to buy anything at Trashy Lingerie in West Hollywood.  Why?  Because the minute you walk out the door they gossip about you and tell everyone what you bought.  Apparently Keith Urban did a little V-day shopping there for his wife Nicole Kidman, and according to the ladies who were on duty that day, he picked up, among other things, a naughty school girl outfit for Nicole.  I feel bad even writing that, because they have totally ruined the surprise for Nic and also violated the sacred bond of trust between celebrities and lingerie sellers.  But there you go.  I’m guessing Nicole doesn’t follow my tidbits, but if you do, Nicole, I’m sorry!

Remember when Keith Urban got into a little hot water a few weeks back for saying that he doesn’t care if people steal his music? It was at the People’s Choice Awards when he was accepting the Favorite Male Artist Award, and while many fans loved it, the songwriters who make their living from music royalties were not thrilled. Keith has clarified his comments now, saying “I was referring to the old days when you’d buy a record, do a cassette tape and give it to your girlfriend, and maybe she likes it and becomes a fan.” He says the whole thing wouldn’t have happened if they hadn’t given him so much time to talk! “I’ve never done an awards show where they seem to let you talk infinitely,” he says. “I kept waiting for the ‘wrap’ sign to come up, and it never came up, and what I said came out nothing like I meant. For the record, I absolutely care about my music not being taken for free. But I love when people are passionate and want to turn friends on to music.”

Thanks in part to performances by Keith Urban and Taylor Swift, the star-studded “Hope For Haiti Now” benefit on Friday night raised over $57 million for the earthquake-ravaged country.  Taylor sang a cover of a song by a band called Better Than Ezra called Breathless. 

But my fave was Keith harmonizing with Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock.  It’s not easy to harmonize with Kid, who is not exactly a singer, but the three of them sounded fantastic together.

We know they both sing, but Nicole Kidman has said that she’s not wild about her singing voice and that it’s highly unlikely that she and her hub Keith Urban will ever record together.  But check it out!  They did a duet.  Of course it’s just for fun.  In fact it’s for Australian actor Simon Baker, star of The Mentalist, who was honored at an annual event in LA for Aussies who have impacted American culture.  FYI, this is the event where Keith and Nicole met 5 years ago.  So here it is, starting at about 30 seconds:

I guess you really have to make sacrifices to stay home with your kid.  That must be why Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman came in at the BOTTOM of Forbes’ annual list of the top earning couples in Entertainment.  Oh, sure, they still made the list, but they’re at #15 with a paltry $17 million in earnings for June 08-June 09.  Keith did tour, and Nicole acted a bit, but they kept their schedules under control so that they could have some quality family time.  Tim and Faith are the only other country pair on the list, with their earnings estimated at $28 million.  Now THAT I could work with.

There’s a new compilation CD out there called “Now That’s What I Call LOVE”!  It’s mostly pop artists singing songs of love, but they’ve thrown in a few country stars as well, namely Keith Urban (Kiss a Girl) and Taylor Swift (Love Story).  The CD arrives in stores on the 26th,  just in time for V-day.
