Well okay, Rascal Flatts got one nomination: Top Vocal Group. But that’s it. no entertainer of the year, no video of the year, no song, no single, no nothing! Kind of crazy. So they took to the Twitter to let their fans know they’re ok with it:

“Thanks for all your kind words and support about the nominations… Awards are great but we make our music for YOU, the fans. Not our peers.”

That’s from Jay DeMarcus. Meanwhile, Kenny Chesney, who got three nominations, disagrees somewhat: “When your peers recognize that work and that passion – well, that’s a big part of why these awards and these nominations matter.” OK, lesson learned. If you don’t get the awards, it doesn’t matter. If you do get the awards, then it does!

Now that I mention it, doesn’t it seem like an obvious choice?  I’m not the only one who thinks so.  Kenny himself says he would LOVE to do it, and now there’s a Facebook page you can go to and cast your vote in his favor.  Not that anything will happen when you do that, but I guess if enough people join this page it could send a message to the yahoos who plan the halftime shows.  Click here if you are interested.

Kenny Chesney was a little torn this year for the Super Bowl since he’s pals with Peyton Manning AND Sean Payton.  Turns out he picked sides and was backing the Saints bigtime, cheering them on from his own suite decked out in black and gold.  After the win, Kenny, his dad, and a few of his college buddies got to watch Sean Payton’s speech in the locker room.  Then at the afterparty, Kenny did a full concert for the team, bringing Sean Payton up on the stage to celebrate with “Beer in Mexico” and other songs.  Sounds like a blast.

The LA Times has compiled a list of the artists who made the most between 2000 and 2009, and this list is solely based on concert ticket sales and album sales…in other words, no endorsement money, licensing, merchandise, any of that.  While Celine Dion topped the list, Kenny Chesney came pretty dang close to topping it.  Her total number was a whopping $747 million, while Kenny earned $742 mil.  Other country acts on the top ten are Toby Keith, who raked in $591 million, and Tim McGraw, who scooped up $550 million.  Rounding out the top 5 after Celene and Kenny, by the way, are Dave Matthews, The Beatles, and U2.

The movie doesn’t come out til spring, but you can get a sneak peak by clicking here.

Kenny gets pretty excited when he talks about the film, saying, “It’s me in a way I’ve never seen myself, and I can’t wait to share it.”  He says it “captures every little detail” and it “makes my fans even more in my face.”  He’s starting to sound like Levi Johnston talking about his Playgirl shoot!

Kenny Chesney has announced that he’s taking all of that footage he shot last Summer and creating a 3-D concert movie!  If you were one of our lucky winners this past Summer when we gave away spots at that special pre-concert taping, you might just spot yourself up there on the big screen this April when the movie hits theaters.  The movie was shot in only about 4 locations, and Seattle was one of them.

Nobody’s won more CMA Entertainer of the Year Awards than Kenny Chesney (four).  And nobody’s ever won three in a row except for him.  About the only person who might be able to break that streak this year is Keith Urban, who did manage to bust in there and win it in 2005 (between Kenny’s 2004 and 2006 wins.)  So what does he think about his chances this year?  He’s got high hopes.  He says he did a little differently this year, doing 58 shows spread out over a longer period of time so he could be home more with his wife and family.  “I’ve been able to put our daughter to bed, and have dinner with my wife, and have breakfast at home,” he says. “I think the shows have been better because of that.”

A date for his “Austin City Limits” episode to air, that is.  Kenny recorded a concert for the famous PBS show a few months back, and now they’ve finally announced an airdate, which is October 17th.  Be sure to tune in, as Kenny says he really loved the chance to focus more on the songs and singing rather than putting on a really big show.  He invited MacMcAnally to join him for their hit “Down the Road,” and then of course sings a bunch of his hits.  So set your DVR!
