…”Beer In Mexico,” that is.  Some kooky record label is putting out a CD of Kenny Chesney Lullabies.  It’s not a bad idea in theory, but it cracks me up that the songs on there include “Beer in Mexico” and “Out Last Night,” among others.  As silly as this is, I have to say it’s a perfect baby gift for any new parent who happens to be a big Kenny fan.  Click here if you want to pre-order a copy…the release date is October 26th.

Kenny Chesney’s new CD, “Hemingway’s Whiskey”, has debuted at the top of the Billboard charts, keeping that guy in the picture there, Lil Wayne, from nabbing the top spot.  Kenny sold 183,000, allowing him to take the top spot for the 6th time in his career.  Zac Brown, who had the top spot last week, is sitting at #3.  It’s also a good week for Kenny because his single from the new CD, “The Boys of Fall,” remains at #1 on the country charts this week as well.

I’m talking, of course, about his streak of consecutive years with a #1 song.  This is a tricky thing to do, because you can’t take a year off from the hitmaking.  Now that Kenny Chesney’s
“Boys of Fall” has become his 20th #1, this means 2010 is his tenth year in a row with a #1.  Tim’s streak lasts 11 years, and others who have done even better are Dolly Parton (11), Loretta Lynn (12), Alabama (14), Ronnie Milsap (16) and of course George Strait at 19 years.

Another impressive stat for Kenny is that his new CD, “Hemingway’s Whiskey”, will most likely debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 charts, which will be his 6th time topping the all-genre chart.  The only country guy to beat that is Garth, who did it 8 times.

….and I agree with him.  I’m talking about Kenny Chesney, who says he has absolutely no problem with not being nominated for Entertainer of the Year this year.  Kenny says that he knew that taking a year off from touring would mean he probably wouldn’t get the nominations he’s used to, but that’s fine by him.  “I wasn’t surprised not to be nominated,” he says, “and I didn’t think I deserved to be.”   Meanwhile, this makes me wonder once more why Carrie Underwood, who has had a huge year touring, is not nominated.  Lady A toured as an opener, and they beat her out….strange, I say.

This just in.  So this morning I got all excited that Kenny Chesney’s new CD, Hemingway’s Whiskey, is coming out tomorrow.  I even reported it in my tidbits at 6:40.  Then the second time around at 8:10, I bothered to look at the calendar and realized that tomorrow is the 21st, not the 28th.  So the cd comes out a week from tomorrow.  Still exciting, right?

No way.  Not according to people like Uncle Kracker who have benefited from his generous and thoughtful gifts.  Uncle Kracker says he has the car of his dreams thanks to Kenny, who surprised him at the end of the tour they did together.  Uncle says that he must have mentioned at some point that his dad (Great Uncle Kracker?) had a ‘69 Plymouth Roadrunner and that he used to work on it all the time when Uncle was growing up.  So one day when Uncle was hanging out at Kenny’s house, Kenny told him to check out what was on the driveway.  It was a 1969 Roadrunner with 30,000 original miles on it.  And what’s more, it was for Uncle Kracker (wouldn’t that have been hysterical if Kenny had actually bought it for himself and was just showing it off to Uncle?  But I digress. ) That’s a pretty nice thing to do if you ask me.

Whoa, dude, makes me feel kind of old that Randy Travis has been making music for 25 years because I remember so well when he first arrived on the scene.  He’s the guy who made country cool again, at least to me.  So to celebrate 25 years in the business, Randy is picking up the phone and basically calling whoever he wants to ask them to duet with him.  The album, due out early next year, will feature Kenny Chesney, Josh Turner, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, John Anderson and Carrie Underwood, and that’s just so far.  More will probably join up in the next few months, and I guarantee you it will be super cool.

Not a lot of country singers other than good old Willie would ever admit that, but let me explain:  Kenny has a new song called “Reality” that is all about escaping reality.  The idea for the song came to him when he was high….in the dentist’s chair.  (Sorry, you know I couldn’t resist dragging that one out).  So there he was, with the gas mask on, relaxing for the first time in years….I’ll let him finish the story:

“They’d put that gas mask on me and I’d be like, ‘Wow, that’s as relaxed as I’ve been in years!’ I thought to myself, ‘This is why people smoke pot right here! This is it!’ I don’t smoke pot, but this is why people do it, I guarantee you. Because it gets them away from reality. I even asked my dentist, ‘I just want to come over here and sit some time, can you guys do that?’ He said, ‘We can’t do that, we’d get in trouble.’ I swear, I started writing that song on the way home. But then I related it to everybody that comes to see us. That’s what live music is. It’s an escape from reality. That’s why as a kid I loved it. I still love going to shows, I love live music. That’s where I got the idea to write the song, it’s my message to the fans that it’s OK to break free and escape reality, with us.”

I can’t think of a more perfect woman for Kenny Chesney than this one:

Her name is Jenn Brown.  She’s not only drop dead hot, she’s also smart (graduated with honors from college), athletic (played 7 sports in high school), and last but not least, she loves football so much she’s become a correspondent on ESPN.  Seriously.  This woman’s “got it all,” as the song would say.  And Star Magazine, which is usually not a very reliable source, has some real and undeniable pics of Kenny and Jenn getting cozy together in Mexico.

You have to buy the magazine to see the juicier ones.

But here’s the part of the story I’m not too sure about.  Supposedly, Kenny is still dating Amy Colley, the former Miss Tennessee/nurse he started seeing a few years ago.  Star says that Amy is “livid” and considers this a “slap in the face.”  But how do we know they are still dating?  They were always very private, and we haven’t really seen them together at all lately.  I’d be surprised if Kenny was dumb enough to take a holiday with another woman and think that no photos would surface…the guy is followed wherever he goes.  So I think it’s safe to say he had a swell time in Mexico with his potential dream girl, but the cheatin’ part is questionable.

Yep.  It’s Kenny Chesney’s video for “The Boys of Fall,” which is of course about football, so it makes sense that there would be a sports connection.  You can catch your first glimpse of the video on ESPN at noon on Monday.  Then there’s also an 8 minute film that Kenny made featuring interviews with a bunch of football stars that will debut on Tuesday.
