When you hear Sara Evans sing “A Little Bit Stronger,” you can hear it in her voice that she LIVED that song.  Which is probably why it’s #1 for the second week in a row.  But whose story is it really?  Get this!  Hillary Scott’s!  The Lady A singer co-wrote that song right after a bad split, and…oh here, I’ll let her explain:

“When I wrote it, I was barely a month out of a really, really bad breakup. It’s very autobiographical … one of the most personal songs that I’ve ever written. It was personal when I wrote it, but now that it’s actually out there, it takes it to another level. I’m sure he [my ex] has heard it, but that’s OK because the song’s about ‘everyday without you, I’m a little bit stronger,’ which is true. So, he can hear that. That’s OK.”

Hillary is very happy in a new relationship, now, by the way.  And of course so is Sara!

She never made it past the first round of auditions when she tried out for the show way back when, but Hillary Scott gets to take the stage tonight on “American Idol” with her band Lady Antebellum to sing their brand new single, “Just a Kiss.”  Check it out tonight at 8 on FOX 12.

Whoa! HUGE night for Lady Antebellum last night. They took home more Grammys than anyone else, winning 5 of the 6 they were nominated for. Superstars like Eminem, Justin Bieber, and Katy Perry stayed seated as Hillary, Dave and Charles walked away with both Record of the Year and Song of the Year. They also took home 3 country awards, Best Vocal Performance by a Group, Best Country Song, and Best Country Album.

Most importantly, how bout those bangs?  Hillary got a new haircut and I think it looks adorable.

You! If you’re a cancer survivor. Darius Rucker, Lady A and Keith Urban have all recorded happy birthday songs as part of the American Cancer Society’s “More Birthdays” campaign, with the idea being that we should all celebrate how more people are surviving cancer, and of course our hope that more people in the future will be able to as well. So if you go to this website, you can send a customized birthday greeting to anyone you know from some pretty cool stars.

A fight?  A hot love affair?  Nope.  A burning car.  Dierks Bentley was out on the town the other night after a Country Grammy nominee party, and he was having a few beers with Charles Kelley from Lady A.  When Dierks told him about his new wheels, a vintage 1967 Camaro, Charles got all excited and wanted to see it.  They headed outside to find that the car was literally in flames.  Not smoking, not “on fire” as in really cool, but ON FIRE.  Flames shooting out of the hood.  Thinking quickly, Charles ran back into the bar and got a fire extinguisher, then soon enough the authorities were on hand to take care of it.  Everyone’s fine, and Dierks even tweeted a little video of the action if you care.

When Lady A’s smash hit “Need You Now” first came out, we noticed that it sounded a lot like a song we remembered from the 80s by Alan Parsons called “Eye in the Sky”.  Well apparently we’re not the only ones who noticed.  Someone calling themselves an “Executive Personal Assistant to Alan Parsons” (really?) wrote in to Nashville Scene to complain that “hundreds of Alan Parsons fans” feel that Lady A’s song is a rip-off of his song.  Judge for yourself by watching this mash-up that someone made:

According to Lady Antebellum, it’s Blake Shelton. At least that’s what their latest parody song suggests. Instead of “All About Tonight,” it’s “These Jeans are Mighty Tight.” Check it out..

He’s the 6th hottest bachelor in country music (according to a recent poll), and he’s a member of the most CMA-nominated group in Country music.  And yet, he doesn’t have a date for the CMA awards!  I’m talking about Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood.  He actually asked his mom to be his date and she turned him down!  What the heck??  So now pals like Kenny Chesney are taking to Twitter to try to recruit a date for Dave.  Sad, but also sweet!  I’m sure he’ll have no trouble finding someone.

This year it seems like the Teen Choice Awards added more trophies just so they could give more to Taylor Swift.  She got four total, including Female Country Artist, Country Album and Country Song.  Keith Urban managed to beat her out for Male Country Artist, and Lady A for Country Group, but sheesh!  Oh, and her fourth one was the Breakout Female award in the movie category for her role in “Valentine’s Day.”  None of the country acts who won were able to be there (Taylor was in Japan) but they all sent thanks in one way or other.  Here’s Lady A’s thank-you video from London:
