In her songs, Miranda Lambert has used gunpowder, lead, and kerosene to exact revenge on her enemies. But in her latest song, “Only Prettier,” Miranda says she has found a new way to do it. The song, which suggests that the best way to deal with “mean girls” is to just smile, be nice, and know down deep that you are better and prettier than them, is a departure for her. Here she explains the new approach: “I’ve grown up a little bit, and maybe I’ll just kill you with kindness, literally! …we all have those people that were better than us or thought they were, and that’s kind of my anthem to say, ‘You’re all right, but I’m actually prettier than you in the reality of things, so I don’t know where you get off thinkin’ that you can be rude.’”

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are ENGAGED!!!!!!!! He went the old-fashioned route when he popped the question May 9.

“He called my dad and got his blessing first,” Lambert tells People. “That was so Southern and old-school and perfect.”

And then Blake presented Miranda with a diamond-and-platinum ring he chose on his own. “I was so proud of him,” says Lambert. “We’ve been together five years, so he knew exactly what I wanted but it’s so much more perfect than I could have picked out myself.”

Check out this emotional interview with Miranda Lambert and her parents about some rough times they had during her childhood.  They lost their home and had to move in with family, then bought a broken down house and slowly built it back up.  Miranda will be singing her new hit “The House That Built Me” on “Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition” on ABC Sunday night.

Remember that huge fish that Blake Shelton caught?  The 40 pounder that was a record breaker in the Oklahoma lake where he caught it while fishing with Miranda?

Well she caught a fish, too, but we didn’t hear a thing about it until now.  Check it out!

Okay so it’s not as big as Blake’s, but then she’s not as big as Blake either!  I love that picture.

At her show last weekend in Michigan, Miranda stopped the music for a minute to scold some girls who were fighting in the front row.  Check it out here, about a minute into this video, which is not super-great quality, by the way.

What is going to make history?  Her new song, “The House That Built Me.”  Now Miranda is usually not one to brag (if it was John Rich talking I’d take it with a grain of salt), so I was surprised to hear her say this about her new single.  The song was written by two relatively unknown songwriters, and Miranda says, “It’s one of the most amazing, timeless lyrics I’ve ever heard.  I’m just fortunate.  I’m just the artist that happened to hear it first and grab it…it’s one of those songs that’s gonna make history.  Definitely.”  It’s already her fastest-rising single, sitting at #22 after only 6 weeks on the charts, so we shall see.

Remember back in the 90s when all of these music festivals were created, like Lollapalooza and the Lilith Fair?  Well the Lilith lives on, and in fact they are kicking off the tour with a show right here in town at the Clark County Amphitheater on July 2nd.  (Tix go on sale March 27th.)  Why should you care?  Because Sugarland and Sheryl Crow are part of the line-up this year.   Other country stars are participating this year (Martina, Loretta Lynn, Miranda Lambert, the Courtyard Hounds) but unfortunately none of them will be at the Clark County show.

I’ve often wondered what the two Lamberts — Miranda and Adam, the screamer from Idol — think of each other.  In fact, I’ve occasionally gotten confused when I see a celebrity gossip headline that says something like ”Lambert Breaks Up With Boyfriend”…I think, “Oh no!  Blake and Miranda broke up!”  then I read the article and it turns out to be about Adam.  Anyway, looks like there’s not going to be a lot of love between the two Lamberts.  Adam was on red carpet duty at the Grammys and he did NOT like Miranda’s gown, calling it “Little Mermaid meets Bed Bath and Beyond.” He added, “It looked like a prom dress you’d buy at the mall.”  Nice!  Miranda was a little better received at Jamie Foxx’s afterparty.  As soon as she walked in, Jamie stopped everything and announced her arrival, then launched into a rap version of “White Liar.”  Jamie says he’s a huge fan and would love to work with her.  So there, Adam!

Today’s the day you can get Miranda Lambert’s much anticipated new CD, “Revolution.”  To celebrate, she’ll be singing on David Letterman’s show tonight, then doing a bunch of other TV appearances, like “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday, “The Bonnie Hunt Show” next week, and then CNN, Fox News and E! later this month.  Go girl!
