The Blake Shelton/Miranda Lambert wedding sounds like it was a pretty down home, Texas-ranch-style affair.  Barbecue, cowboy boots, dogs, etc.  All except for one major thing:  The $1.2 million necklace that Miranda wore when she walked down the aisle.  This is one of those deals where a jeweler loans a bunch of his fanciest stuff to celebs because he knows that everyone will report it and give him gajillions of dollars of publicity.  And how perfect for him, because right now there isn’t much scoop yet from the bride and groom, so everyone (including me right now!) is fixating on the jewelry.

Blake’s ring, by the way, is based on one of his tattoos, hopefully not the one on his wrist that he says he hates (barbed wire framing deer prints, that everyone thinks are ladybugs!).  Don’t look for the ring on his finger on The Voice tonight, because these episodes  are still the pre-taped ones.  He’s actually on his honeymoon, or at least he’s supposed to be!  He started tweeting again today, and I don’t know if Miranda is really going to put up with that on the actual honeymoon.

A super-blurry paparazzi shot of Blake the Groom.

Yep, Blake and Miranda did it!  They tied the knot on Saturday outside of San Antonio with 550 friends and family in attendance.  No official photo of the bride and groom yet, but annoying paparazzi got some aerial shots that give you an idea of the nice, laid-back vibe of the event.  Miranda wore her mom’s dress, which warms my heart because she went sentimental.  Let’s face it, Miranda’s folks couldn’t have had too much money to throw around back in their day, so it’s probably not the fanciest of dresses, but it was her mom’s!  Very sweet.

Here are their official statement about being married:

Miranda:  “I’m married to my best friend!  Looking forward to a lifetime of laughter.”

Blake:  “I wanted to be married to Miranda the day I proposed.  Finally, it’s official!”

In other words, he didn’t want a wedding, just a wife!  But a wedding he got, and a big one at that.  The guest list included some familiar names:  Reba, Dierks, Martina, Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum, his brother Josh Kelley, Josh’s wife (actress) Katherine Heigl, Kelly Clarkson and Cee Lo Green, Blake’s new pal from “The Voice.”  Based on the helicopter photos, they all milled around happily and lined up for Texas barbecue.  Overall, the wedding looks like it was pretty low key and fun.

Oh, and by the way, when I’m wrong, I’m wrong.  The wedding took place at the Don Strange Ranch outside of San Antonio.  Nowhere near the place I guessed.  Check out the location here.

I almost feel guilty for posting these since they were obviously taken by some kind of creeper paparazzi in a helicopter or something, but at least you can see what the bridesmaids wore, so here you go:

Isn’t it cute how their dresses are not all matchy-match?  And it looks like all of Miranda and Blake’s dogs got in on the act, too.  No pics of Miranda yet, but I’ll keep  you posted.   If you want to be a voyeur, click here to see all the  paparazzi shots.

Here’s the deer meat that Miranda picked up yesterday for the wedding.

Sure, everyone (including Blake and Miranda themselves) say they’re getting married tomorrow (Saturday), but for some kooky reason there is one website reporting that the wedding will happen tonight, TONIGHT, in the hill country outside of San Antonio.  The source is an online news outlet called MySanAntonio.com, and they report this news as if it is just plain undisputed fact.  Kind of weird.  So the question is, are Blake and Miranda being super-sneaky by leading everyone to believe that the wedding day is Saturday?  Do you think they would think it’s cool to get married on a Friday the 13th?  Or is it more likely that this one source is wrong and everyone else is right?  I still stand by my prediction that it will happen tomorrow at this place, the Lone Oak Ranch and Retreat.  But that is based on nothing but a hunch.  Thanks to my friend Shannon at NashvilleGab for tracking down the San Antonio story.  And if you feel like you know exactly where the wedding will happen, go to her website to enter her contest.  By the way, here is another good guess…

Blake Shelton tweeted this photo in anticipation of the big day on Saturday:

So now we know the wedding will take place in Grayson County, Texas!  Okay, call me dork, but I did a little digging, and I am guessing that the wedding will take place here.  It’s in that county, it’s a gorgeous, down-homey place, and it’s actually between Miranda’s hometown and Tishomingo, Oklahoma, where she lives now with Blake.

Oh, and speaking of Blake, catch him tonight on “The Voice” (ch 8, 9 pm) when the “Battle” round begins.  Reba will be helping him coach his team.

NOPE!  Why would there be?  Two totally different worlds, and that’s why we love country music, right?  But I do have two very different reactions to the wedding from some country girls.   Miranda Lambert, who ties the knot in about 2 weeks herself, says she’s obsessed with the royal wedding, and she was planning to set her alarm this morning to catch the whole thing.

On the other hand, Kellie Pickler, who eloped with her love on New Year’s Day to escape the hassles of a big wedding, says she feels sorry for the royal couple.  “I feel so sorry that on the most important, most beautiful day of their life, it has to be just an open book to the whole world. I mean, they deserve to have their intimate ceremony to their close ones and loved ones. It’s so sad that they get stalked by the paparazzi and the media the way they do. I couldn’t imagine. I know what it’s like on my end, and it’s not even in comparison to what they have to go through.”

What the?  Who the?  It’s true, but let me explain.  To celebrate her May 14th wedding to Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert is flying a few of her closest gal pals to Kentucky on May 6th, just in time for the festivities surrounding the Kentucky Derby.  They plan to whoop it up at the famous “Barnstable Brown Gala,” a fancypants soiree that happens every year the night before the Derby.  Also in attendance?  The Jonas Brothers, Joey Fatone of ‘NSync, and a bunch of other celebs you may or may not have heard of.  Miranda and her girls plan to make a whole weekend out of it…no word on whether any of them is hoping to hook up with a JoBro.

While recording the “Girl’s Night Out” special (see below), Miranda spilled the beans about a few things she’s working on, and they sound pretty cool!  First of all, there’s the Pistol Annies, a trio that Miranda has created with two other female singers, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley.  She says they’ve been writing songs like crazy, and that they will definitely have an “edge”.  Sounds like my kind of deal!  And then there’s her new TV show for ABC Family, currently in development.  It’s a drama based on her situation growing up with parents who are both private eyes, and the kids get to help solve the crimes.  She won’t star in it, she’s just creating it.  No date yet, but we’ll keep you posted…

back before the cat fight…

The 76 year old living legend was recently asked about the young country stars of today, and she went right for Blake Shelton, saying that she once kissed him on the cheek and Miranda told her, “you’re trying to take him away from me!”  Loretta told her, “He’s my boyfriend now!”  Kind of reminds me of the stuff my late grandma Mamoo used to do.  And so does her next comment:  “And I love that black guy, what’s his name?”  Uuuh, that would be Darius Rucker, Ms. Lynn.  Of “that black guy,” Loretta says “now THAT’s country.”  However she decides to phrase it, I’m sure Darius would be thrilled to be singled out by someone like Loretta.
