Those Judds!  It’s always something!  Wy and Naomi’s new reality show debuted on Oprah’s network last night, and more Judd revelations bubbled up:  Add to Ashley’s recent tales of drugs, abuse and incest… Naomi’s tale of early molestation.  Now, while I’m all for revealing stuff like this as part of the healing process, it’s starting to get a little confusing with the Judds’ never-ending stream of awfulness.  Meanwhile, Naomi has also admitted that some of the scenes on the new show are staged, and that even though the set-ups went badly, the scenes are still in the show because she and Wy didn’t have any creative control.  So does that make you want to watch it more or less?  Might be fun to try to figure out which parts are real and which are fake.

Young Judds: Ashley, Naomi, Wy

It’s a crazy week for the Judds,  being celebrated during the taping of the “Girls Night Out” ACM special, getting ready to debute their Oprah Network reality show, and also being exposed by their sister/daughter in a scathing and shocking new memoir called “All That is Bitter and Sweet.”  This book!  It is chock full of awful details about what Ashley Judd’s life was like while her mom and sister hit the road to become country stars.  Neglect is only the beginning…she also alleges that there was constantly pot in the house, that Naomi replaced her dad with a boyfriend who was an abusive heroin addict, that she was molested and her family didn’t believe her, and that there was some incest on top of it all.  It’s downright disturbing, but Naomi’s reaction has been pretty low-key.  She says ‘I think it’s key for us to spend time figuring out our own reality. Every unhappiness is tied to a story, and we have to go back and figure out our stories. And then it’s our stories that connect us’.

The Judds were part of Larry King’s last week on the air, and Wynonna, who’s lost 55 pounds, dished a little bit about herself.  She says she’s got a new boyfriend, that she’s “very much in love” and that he’s a “rock star.”  Who is he?  Well you’ll just have to tune in to Wy and Naomi’s new show on Oprah’s OWN network next year to find out!  Talk about a tease.  Wy says she’s known this guy for 25 years, and that “it’s going to come out on the show in March.”  Sheesh.  One thing I will say.  People use the term “rock star” a lot of different ways these days.  It might just mean she thinks he’s a great guy.

She’s fine, she says, but Wynonna Judd, her daughter and her manager were all in a head-on crash in Salt Lake City last week while on their way to a sushi dinner.  Wy says she can’t go into details (law suits?  complications?) but that they are all fine and grateful to be alive, even if they’re a bit scratched and bruised.  She had to have a CAT scan, but was judged to be OK enough to keep touring.  She was on stage and good to go in Medofrd over the weekend so I guess she must be fine.

The dust-up over Taylor Swift’s Grammy performance just will NOT die down! I can’t believe some of the snarky, evil comments people are still making about Taylor, all because of one performance that was sub-par. I know, I know, it’s a free country and Taylor makes millions and we shouldn’t feel sorry for her, but it just seems a little extreme. Well now Naomi Judd has stepped up for Taylor with an open letter to the Nashville newspaper, where she says Taylor has “smarts, manners and class. Why can’t fault-finders see that she is a sorely needed role model? We’re aware of how lyrics and musicians can influence our society. If America ever needed positive role models, it’s now.”  She goes on to say that Taylor’s not the first person to let her nerves get the better of her during a performance at the Grammys “in front of the world’s top artists in every genre of music.” If you’re interested in reading more, including tons of reader comments on both sides of this EXTREMELY important issue, click here.

That’s what Wynonna Judd is calling an upcoming reunion tour with her mom Naomi that will take place later this year. During her appearance yesterday on CBS’ Early Show, Wy confirmed that a full tour is ahead for the Judds, plus some new music in the Fall. If they make a full Judds album that will be their first one in 10 years! When more details are available on all of this we’ll let you know.

Wynonna had a lot to say at the CMAs, and one major topic was a possible reunion with her momma, Naomi. Wy says they’re probably going to do a  tour together in 2010.  Says Wy: ”We are in talks, so there’s nothing that’s been defined yet.  I just felt it in my spirit.  A couple of weeks ago I said, ‘It’s 2010.  It’s been 25 years.  It’s take your mother to work year.”  More details when they figure them out, I guess!
