Carrie Underwood, Actress?
Posted in: Uncategorized
Carrie Underwood has proved herself to be a country singing sensation, and now she’s going to try her hand at acting. The Grammy winner will star alongside Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt and AnnaSophia Robb in Soul Surfer, a film based on the autobiography of 19-year-old champion surfer Bethany Hamilton. Robb will star as Hamilton, Underwood will play a church youth leader, and Quaid and Hunt will portray Hamilton’s parents. In 2003, Hamilton lost her left arm in a shark attack while surfing off Kauai’s North Shore.

LoveNTheft & Kraft Want to Know
Posted in: Uncategorized

Kraft Foods is starting a campaign for its Singles cheese slices celebrating small-town America.
Kraft is launching the contest—which asks consumers to submit a photo and a short description of what they consider to be the “single best thing” in their hometowns—with a series of TV spots running on the Disney-owned ABC daytime soap channel. Ads, which begin this week, show the three members of the country music group Love and Theft—Brian Bandas, Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson—playfully bantering about whose hometown is best. The ads prompt consumers to submit entries by asking, “Is it your county fair? Or your annual parade? Maybe your local moment. What is it about your town?”
Contest participants who upload submissions to the Disney-owned FamilyFun.com site can share their photos and essays with Facebook friends, or ask them to “vote for my town,”. The food company is also reaching out to influential mommy bloggers, as well as running ads in the March publication of Family Fun, the print incarnation of the craft and recipe site, to attract more entries. Voting opens March 11 and runs through April 11, with the winner receiving a block party visit hosted by the members of Love and Theft, and appearances from his/her favorite ABC soap stars.

Kenny Chesney in Vegas
Posted in: Uncategorized

Kenny Chesney keeps adding to his summer schedule but, as promised, isn’t mounting a full-scale tour. He has just announced four dates at the Hard Rock Las Vegas, on May 14 and 15, and July 2 and 3. The performer will take over the hotel’s venue called the Joint, and says audiences in the 4000-seat room can expect a show in the style of his Keg In The Closet tours.
Chesney’s Keg In The Closet shows are usually held in college town bars, with he and his band promoting a party atmosphere driven by his hits, cover songs from U2, Steve Miller, Van Halen, Tom Petty, and more, in a 3-hour set.
“The beauty of the Joint is that not only is it a great rock and roll room, but they’ll let us get up there and play… and play… and play,” says Chesney. “We have so much fun, because we can throw in all kinds of stuff we don’t get to play in our regular show, and the audiences are diverse enough that no matter what we throw at them, they know the songs!”
The superstar is playing a few major outdoor festivals this summer, and is anticipating the April 21 release of Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3-D, the concert film which captures five of his stadium shows.
Chesney has played at the Joint before, when he was part of the grand opening in April 2009 along with Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi and the Killers.
Tickets, starting at $150 (plus applicable service fees), will be available Saturday at noon at the Hard Rock Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000
